A group of nine cyclists completed a four-day unsupported “Gympie North Pub Crawl” cycling tour from 8–11 May 2026 through the countryside north of Gympie, combining challenging rides with country pub hospitality, camping, and live music. Starting from Gympie South, the riders travelled through Widgee, Sublime Farm and Brewery, and Gundia Pub, covering scenic but hilly roads with a mix of sealed backroads and rough shoulders, while dealing with cold nights, rain, and the occasional local hoon. Highlights included friendly locals, affordable pub meals, music performances, campsite camaraderie, and memorable characters such as Dan from the Gundia Pub, with the group ultimately agreeing the ride was an excellent way to spend four days cycling through regional Queensland.
