Surely thats not 4 months done and dusted, as I see grey clouds, rain and the first of May all rolling in,….
Just home from a highly successful Rockhampton to Ipswich multi day unsupported tour with 12 jolly campers and travel buddies keeping the big smoke’s cash flowing into tiny towns as fast as great tucker and cold beer could be consumed. A big Thank You to the ride leader Lawrence Ferrari and ably supported by David Dowling and Peter Damm for all the planning.
If you missed this one, don’t worry, another one is in the wind,….Darling Downs, for a week, starting at Kogan, in August, details to follow,….
Well May sees three two day supported rides in fabulous country, just waiting for you.
First off the bat this Wednesday 5th Ian Chant’s Woodford to Maleny, followed by the return of the popular Linville to Uncle Bob’s Nanango on 24th and capped of by Peter Brennan’s signatory tour of Murwillumbah to Lismore down for 29th
All three are one night away with your bags carried by others and day two’s on a different route making for exciting tours to claim your spot.
Speaking of which, 42 members have claimed a spot on Peter’s Lismore tour with registrations still open till the 14th May. If you haven’t experienced one of Peter’s tours your missing such a fun time with great people. Many folk living out of Brisbane, are in the bbta, just to be part of Peter’s four tours every year.
The Uncle Bob’s tour is simply a great ride. Loads of variety as we pedal up the rail trail to Blackbutt and onto Yarraman and then into the high country tracking past Tarong power station and down the ridge with stunning views to the east and west. Its a solid ride with 80 kms there. Hybrid or Mountain bikes are the go. E Bikes are very welcome. The loop home drops down from the high country onto the Brisbane River so just a pleasant outing for 60 km back to Linville.
If you haven’t experienced Uncle Bobs farmstay cottages hosted by Rod and Celia and a beaut social time with mates in a rustic, quirky laid back venue and great food, then this two dayer is for you. If you can’t make this one on 24th May, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered, as we re run this tour a month later on the weekend of 26th, 27th June. Spots are capped at 11 beds over 7 rooms, plus delightful grass for a handful of campers.
Ten members have claimed their spot for the annual Woodford to Maleny ride this coming Wednesday, coffee at Peachester with a delightful ride up Bald Knob road and into Maleny. Most stay at the Pub but you’ll need to book a bed yourself. Still spots open. Delightful scenic riding with a fun bunch of guys. A road bikes the go.
See the Calendar for all the details.
The regular weekly rides are on the calendar. Don’t forget if you or your friends are looking for a slow gentle ride then Iain Moore’s Saturday arvo ride is the go,…you’ll be glad you went along.

Well that’s it,…till we pen again.
