Anyone for a Pie
SeptemberSep 08 2019 08:20 - 15:20 Australia/Brisbane
This is a leisurely ride along the Brisbane Valley Trail from the Wulkaraka Railway Station to Fernvale for lunch. The section of the trail is 23km long – up and back gives a total of 46km.
The ride is suitable for wider tyred bikes ie hybrids or mountain bikes but not road bikes.
There is apparently no water or toilets along this section of the rail trail, however all facilities are available at Fernvale. I expect a slow ride allowing 2 and half hours each way and 1 hour 45 minutes for lunch at the Old Fernvale Bakery cafe.
There are 2 ways to get to Wulkaraka, one is to drive to the railway station or alternatively take the train to Ipswich and change to the Rosewood train getting off at Wulkurka – train runs hourly on Sundays.
I will be catching the 7.23am train from Oxley Station which arrives at Ipswich at 8.00am. I change trains to 8.05am train to Rosewood which arrives at Wulkuraka at 8.10am. The ride will depart at about 8.20am. There is parking around the streets at near Oxley station and also at Wulkaraka (Dixon street).
Return will be on the 3.21pm train from Wulkurka to Ipwich. The 3.37pm Ipswich to Brisbane(Caboolture) will get me back to Oxley at 4.10pm. Fares from Oxley using a Go card are $4.03 each way – total $8.06
