September 20 @ 4:00 pm - September 22 @ 4:00 pm
| FreeHere are the details of two interesting hybrid or Mountain bike rides. Description courtesy of Paul Glennon the ride organiser for 2020
The broad plan is to drive out to Killarney ( around 200 km from Brisbane ) Monday afternoon arriving say 4 pm. Set up camp or book into hotel / Motel for two nights
Meet for drinks and the evening meal at the Killarney Pub at 6 pm Monday 20th September.
Tuesday 21st Ride the Condamine Gorge via Queen Mary Falls, 46 km loop with 851 M of climbing
Meet at the Sundowner Motel Caravan Park in town, 800 M from the pub, at 8 am to head off at 8.30 am.
The ride heads up to Queen Mary falls for a short break on bitumen roads, then further climbing to Carr’s Lookout. At just after 24 km we turn sharp left onto gravel and head back to Killarney via the Condamine Gorge. This road is around 20 km of good quality gravel through the Gorge with 12 river crossings, the first one will be up to your knees. Most of the others are around 200 mm deep. Don’t wear your best shoes. Well have a short break somewhere in the Gorge for snacks that we’ll need to carry.

The afternoon is free to explore town.

Evening Meal. Last year we suggested that we bring meat to BBQ in the Sundown Camp kitchen. They have a beaut facility with pot belly log fire. Will fit 15 people very comfortably. However, if the majority want another pub meal that is OK too. We might discuss this a few days out so that we can carry food if we need to. The camp kitchen has a frig, BBQ, stove and cooking utensils.
Wednesday 22nd Killarney, Legume, Elbow Valley loop, 53 km 612 M of climbing.
Meet at the Sundown Motel Caravan Park at 8 am to head off at 8.30 am.
We head out to Legume on bitumen, then a further 6 km along the Mount Lindsay Highway before turning onto quiet roads where it turns into a bit of gravel and later a sandy track.
You can see the route below. We skirt past Elbow Valley and slowly get back onto to bitumen roads staying on quiet roads wherever possible.
