Ian Chant’s Group Mid Week Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (Esk)
July 14, 2020 @ 8:00 am - July 15, 2020 @ 2:00 pm
Ride Leader: Ian Chant 0418 781088 or email: email@example.com
The plan is to explore the southern end of the Brisbane Valley Rail trail. We will stay in Esk the night of Tuesday July 14 so please organize your accommodation at Esk. I suspect a few of us will stay at the Esk Grand Hotel but there are plenty of other accommodation options available to suit your needs.
Details about the rail trail, history, points of interest, maps and details of food and accommodation options can be found at the following website https://www.brisbanevalleyrailtrail.com.au/
The plan is to meet at Heap Street, Esk at approximately 8am. At 8:15am “Out there Cycling” will load our bikes onto a trailer. Their bus will take us to the starting point of Wulkuraka. I expect we will arrive there about 9:45 am. From there we ride back to Esk, a total of 67km. There are plenty of options for lunch or coffee along the route at Fernvale (23km), Lowood (31km) or Coominya (43km). The bakery at Fernvale is legendary.
We stay the night in Esk and believe a few of us will be having a meal in the Esk Grand Hotel that evening.
The next day will probably be Esk to Toogoolawah and return after a bite of lunch (19km each way making it 38 km total). If you want to see more you can go to Harlin and back (a total of 64km) – it is up to you. Of course you can turn around when it suits you, after all your car will be back in Esk.
