At the forthcoming Social Night in July, BBTA Member Sandie Downes will give a Presentation on her proposed Tour of the Darling River.

Sandie is proposing this tour take place around August/September 2015:

“Are you are looking for an adventure, do something active and enjoy some beautiful scenery and nature” …” I love our sunburnt country, the land of black soil plains.” (sic)!!

Come and travel some 900km along our great historic Darling River following along the line of river gums and coolabah trees.
Learn about our early Australian Explorer, Charles Sturt who set off in 1828.

Visit Fred Hollows’ grave in the Bourke Cemetery, cruise on the Darling River at Bourke on a paddleboat/paddle-steamer. Visit Menindee Lakes, take a bus tour of (Bourke & Wills Memorial), tour with River Lady Tours.

This unsupported tour starts in Hebel, Queensland and follows along the Darling River until the Darling meets the Murray River at Wentworth, New South Wales.
