Whats ON in August

Paul Glennon | Published on 8/4/2023

Just another month of brisk morning starts, long fingers gloves and extra hot coffee?  Spare a thought for those sweltering in tee shirts and shorts of Northern France,.. as I contemplate winter again,...

So, another lovely array of rides for you to consider this month.

Our Club Get Together gets a guernsey, Saturday  week 12th at Victoria Park Bistro Herston https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=738657&item_id=1994124. If you want to see my Parisian suntan, you’ll need to be there, 8 till 10 am.

Saturday 19th sees a repeat of the new ride, the Samford Pony Trails https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=738657&item_id=2048424. It’s a beaut ride put on by Bruce Edge to sharpen your mountain biking skills. It’s not technical and relatively easy even if you’re a relative beginner. Please read the info in the detail section before registering.

On the weekend  of 26th and 27th Lawrence  Ferrari leads us ‘To the Cork’ unsupported tour Stanthorpe  to Tenterfield and back https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=738657&item_id=1994125. Always a great time touring, this time into new country for many of us. The routes are in the detail section. Please consider.

On Tuesday  29th Alex Geels has his annual Canungra to Mount O’Reilly’s and return ride https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=738657&item_id=2048311. Not too tough a climb but so worthwhile for the picturesque scenery and panoramic views. You’ll love it.

The regular rides are up on the calendar to see. They include:-

  • the Tuesdays Alt Oasis to Sandgate;
  • Wednesday's Sandgate Cruise (kicking off last month,..we’d like to see more riders jumping on this one);
  • Thursdays Redcliffe Run, and
  • the Coffee at the Beach (Sandgate) rides.

The weekends sees:-

  • the Saturday Arvo Ride and;
  • Sunday’s 2 Points from Gumdale ride.

We really appreciate  the efforts and time put in by all the Ride Leaders,...so Thank You!

Please consider any ride you are thinking of, perhaps adding it to the calendar. Everyone has access to do this. If you are unsure please contact myself or the Rides Coordinator, Iain Moore.

Also, the Clubs Rides Reporter has been extra busy with the inclusion of Ride Reports and placing them in the BBTA App and on our Website.

The following ride reports were added in the past month.

If you have done a ride that others would like to hear about, send details to ridereports@bbta.org.  Recent bike tours, and interesting one day trips etc. are all candidates.

Oh,..first up next month is another Club Breakfast, down for Sunday 3th September at Manly,... sitting virtually on the water. A top venue. I’ll note it on next letter, but please keep a couple of hours on that morning free to catch up.  https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=738657&item_id=1994126

Well, that's it,..
Bonjour a Paris,..I jump on a plane in couple of days,..so looking forward to being back in Oz.  In the meantime enjoy a few snaps from Paris...
