It just doesn't seem right to Wish Everyone a Merry Christmas yet,.....especially since our bounty of Christmas Cards from all our far flung mates haven’t arrived,....in fact,...last years ones never arrived either,... come to think of it,...
I’m penning todays Summer Edition of Whats ON in near searing heat and 63 % humidity and thinking there are still a mountain of days ahead before reaching the other side,...TG for early morning light to jump on the bike,..
So,..two Social events this month. First up this Sunday 3th is our Club Breakfast at the City Botanical Gardens Cafe. A peaceful and idyllic spot and very easy to get to on bike. 13 have registered to date.
Reply here if for any reason you want to come and are having difficulty registering.
And on Tuesday week the 12th, Alex Geels has set up a Christmas drinks Event at the Maritime Museum South bank followed by dinner at the Ship Inn. There are 4 spots left with 38 registered. It will be a fabulous night with a top venue and views to die for,..a great night out with mates,...not to mention Irene’s yummy cakes.
Bruce Edge’s Samford Pony trails is up twice this month,..this Saturday 2nd and 23th starting in Samford Village at 7.30 am. Please consider.
Iain Moore’s Saturday Arvo ride in on the next 4 Saturdays leaving from the Windsor Train Station at 3 pm. Please consider.
Aileen Franklin’s Made Easy River Loop inaugural ride is down for Sunday week the 10th leaving opposite the Regatta Hotel Toowong at 7 am. Aileen has a second pick up point at the southern end of the Walter Taylor Bridge at 7 .45 am.
This is a 30 km ride with a few hills and regular re groupings. The speed will match that of the slowest rider so no one gets left behind. This ride is for members who feel they are not fast enough for the usual River Loop groups and may be uncertain about the route. Aileen prefers a phone call rather than a text, so please call her to express your interest. With enough interest this ride will appear twice a month.
John Steven’s 2 Points from Gumdale is on every Sunday morn this month (so 5 times) leaving from the Eastside Village Shopping Centre at 6.30 am. Please consider.
John also has his Public Holiday East Side ride on Christmas Eve leaving Minnippi Wetlands Skate track carpark at 6.30 am.
If you have just moderate interest in any of the above four rides, I am asking you to please consider going on at least one of these rides every month. So across the Club, we would see regular interest.
Now the flip side is that our Ride Leaders are putting these rides on for YOU.
Rides only keep going if YOU SUPPORT them.
I encourage you to support ALL of our Ride Leaders. Thank you in advance.
The regular rides of Tuesday’s Alt Oasis and Thursday’s Coffee at the Beach and the Redcliffe Run are on the Calendar to see.
And finally on rides, Robert Burn’s Orphans and Escapees 20 km Christmas morning ride is on this year. I will be the Ride Leader and Robert has said he will attend. So, if all your family are out of town, perhaps you may consider a short slow paced amble on bike paths along the Brisbane River after your stocking’s been raided, to coffee and share a plate at Orleigh Park West end for brunch.
David Dowlling’s Unsupported Tour of Tasmania has one spot that has just come up. It kicks off on the 3th February next year for 21 days (17 ride days) averaging just under 60 km per day. It basically is a loop from Launceston down the east coast and up the centre. So a fabulous trip if you have had some touring experience. Reply to me on this email if this last spot in a small group interests you.
Our Rides Reporter Peter Skinner reminds us to check the Club App under ‘News’ for all the goss on the recent Bushrangers and Tigers Victorian tour taking in upteen rail trails,....pics are fabulous.
Also you can see these pics and as well Peter Brennan’s recent Warwick Supported Tour pics under the ‘More’ tab and then Photo Albums,...plenty to chew over,...
And finally,...I see many people are using the BBTA phone App. Privacy of your personal information is paramount in todays world. So, you are in control of exactly what personal information can be seen by others. If you agreed to share some information with the App, you can always revoke it by using the privacy settings on your
