2026 - Sun Surf and Sugarcane
This was a three day unsupported ride Starting in Iluka, camping at Grafton and Brooms Head, finishing back at Ikuka.

9 Tourers assembled at Iluka on Monday 3rd August to start the ride the next day. There was a mix of campers and motelers.
Tuesday was 82k and was basically flat. We crossed the Clarence River many times by both bridge and ferry. Stopping at the Thong Tree for a regroup, Maclean for smoko and Lawrence for lunch. The day was fine and clear and the traffic no problem.

We camped at the Grafton showgrounds ($10 a head) and went to the RSL for dinner.

Wednesday was 83k with a few lumps - 510m of climbing, but nothing of any consequence. A foggy start to the day lead to another perfect winter's day. Cool and clear. Camped at Brooms Head and stopped at Ullamarra for smoko and Maclean for lunch.

Brooms Head now requires a two-night min stay and we had some items stolen during the night. Perhaps we wont be back!!

Thursday - 41k back to Yamba to catch the ferry to Iluka and our cars. We aimed to catch the 11am ferry. Stopped at the servo at the 20k mark for smoko/second breakfast then negotiated the roadworks on the Yamba Road to get to the ferry terminal. Traffic was heavy but it was school drop off time and the Yamba road is always busy. They are raising it 1m in height so the roadworks will be there for quite some time.

The weather was perfect. Clear days; cool but not cold at night. No wind

There were no hospitalisations, or flat tyres and a good time was had by all.
