Our club is sitting on the cusp of some very exciting times ahead.
Our world is shifting fast with geopolitical tensions almost in every corner, digital currency taking a place at the table, mass migration and climate change impacting us all,... but it's the humble Bicycle that seems more stable than ever,....
So,...rides are hitting the calendar reflecting the spirit of what the bike truly offers and taking us where we really want to go,...
Ride Reports
I just read Peter Skinner's Ride Report on his recent 600 km pedal across South Korea, pretty much car free, fully paved relatively easy adventure,...perhaps not for everyone,...but a must read for all of us,....to ignite the flame for imagining where your bike can take you,...
So,..we would like to see more members join the three styles of multi day rides on offer in the Club,...
Special Rides to Look out for
Firstly,..Base Camp loop rides from one spot,...last month we had 3 fabulous days out of Linville thanks to Russel Scholl. Now in just three weeks Russel leads 3 days of mountain or gravel biking out of Blackbutt (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3). One of the rides we did last month out of Linville, was so good, we are repeating it this time from Blackbutt. On the calendar for 21 st to 23 th. Don't miss it. Two or three nights away,..Camp or pub it,..Great buddies and top riding,...
And next month Ian Chant has another Base Camp coming up with 2 days of Loop rides out of Boonah in the Scenic Rim,..
Next Thursday, 9th Peter Damm has a ride leaving Nerang at 7 am, pedalling up to Springbook and return via Numinbah Valley,...Just 84 km and plenty of hills,..a great ride for those who love this kind of challenge,...
Then,..we have a 2 day weekend supported road bike rides with Peter Brennan,...the next one Ballina to Casino down for September 12th and 13th,..still weeks away,...see the calendar for details,..there are 4 of these style of rides throughout SEQ each year,...
And Lastly,...the unsupported multi day road tours,...now building on the Introductory Crabbles Creek to Tyalgum tour earlier this year in March,...Lawrence Ferrari leads a 3 day 2 night absolutely enjoyable Iluka to Grafton then Brooms Head before heading to Yamba and a ferry to Illuka,...not to be missed.Basically flat with a touch of onshore winds coming into coast,...so down for straight off the bat, next month, 4th to 6th August,...see the calendar under 'Sun, Surf and Sugarcane',... And keep an eye out for the 7 Day Wide Bay Burnet Tour in September
Regular Rides
So this month,..Iain Moore has a number of rides,..with the Sunday morning Sandgate Brunch on the 5th and 19th and The Samford Bakery ride from Ferny Hills train station on 12th with Tea and Scones on the Bridge (Gateway) on 26th all leaving Kalinga Park at 7.30 am each Sunday.
Then his Saturday Arvo rides are on every Saturday leaving the Windsor train station at 3 pm. Please consider.
John Stevens runs the 2 Points from Gumdale ride on Sunday mornings.
The regular mid week rides are on the calendar for you to see,..
These include the Sunday morning 2 points from Gumdale, Tuesday Alt. Oasis to Sandgate, Thursdays Coffee at the Beach (Sandgate) and the Redcliffe Run,..
