Linville Loops

21 – 23 May 2026
The Linville Loops rides were designed to allow riders to opt in for rides of their choice. Several riders participated in the three rides. All riders camped up at Linville Railway Station Camping area. This spot is very nicely grassed, and the coin operated hot showers and toilets are well maintained by the Sommerset Regional Council.
Day 1. Linville to Toogoolawah ( 74 km 569 m elevation)
On what was a perfect Autumn morning seven riders rolled out of Linville heading south towards Toogoolawah. At Moore we veered of the BVRT along the old stock route and some gravel roads towards Toogoolawah. After an early lunch at a Café beside the Rail Trail riders made their own pace back to Linville soaking up the local attractions along the way.
Day 2. Rohlmans Roll (55 km 668 m elevation)
With more great Autumn conditions we had 2 new riders arriving for today’s ride keeping our numbers at seven (2 riders returned to Brisbane last night). Today’s adventure took us up the Blackbutt Range towards Benarkin where a coffee stop was the order of the morning. From Benarkin it was back country roads and tracks to Old Esk Road and then up to Taromeo Fire Tower. A fire trail decent followed to return to the BVRT and then back off the trail to the top of the Range. We had to turn back as find an alternate trail to the top of the range as forestry pine harvest operations had closed the road in one section. A short detour along the BVRT enables us to locate a management trail up to the top beside the Highway to allow us to start a roll down Rohlmans Road and through paddocks back into Linville.

Day 3 - West Brisbane River / East Brisbane River Loop (43 km 772 m elevation)
Today’s ride started 24 km north of Linville. Now we were down to six riders as we started our adventure at the confluence of the Eastern and Western Branches of the River. This is where the Brisbane River officially starts.
We began by riding up northwards on Western Branch Road crossing the Brisbane River (West Branch) multiple times before then heading off through the Mt Stanley Forestry Reserve and then back down via the Eastern Branch Road again crossing the Brisbane River (East Branch). There are twenty crossings down the Eastern Branch of the Brisbane River to its junction with the Western Branch.
