Just 36 events this month to choose from,…and those do not include any off road bike rides which we want on the calendar in coming months.,..
So,..variety and choice,…is a chord we plan to keep striking,..
Added to this is our new Rides Coordinator in Laurel Mackinnon, who will support you and encourage more varied rides, more often,…please connect with Laurel via admin@bbta.org
First up this Sunday evening 1st, is Michael O’Hagan’s Full Moon ride to the Full Moon hotel for dinner. I did it at the start of the month and loved it,…you will too,..
I wonder how many of you have been waiting for a Coot-tha to land on the calendar,…well here it is,…thanks to Tony Webb, for daring to add it,..with the western bikeway and river paths,…thrown in for good measure,..meet at Lands St 7 am this Tuesday 3th .
Oh yes,..the next Club Get together is here already,…this Saturday 7th at the Bistro cafe Victoria Park, with city views to die for,..8 am onwards,.. see you there,..
Peter Brennan’s Nanango to Kingaroy Supported weekend tour is on Saturday week the 14th. Registrations have closed as the accommodation is now locked in. However, it may be possible to obtain a late registration if you have your own accommodation,…but this needs confirmation by Peter,.. These weekends are a fabulous way to meet fellow club members and experience beaut open country riding,..the next weekend after this, is the Noosa tour down for late May 30th,..please consider,…
Then the following weekend 21st, we come to our Introductory Crabbes Creek to Tyalgum 2 day overnight Tour. Designed to introduce you to the many aspects of bike touring. 17 registered to date,..so it’ll be a very exciting and sociable tour. We have been fortunate to team up with Bicycle Queensland (BQ) to promote this tour as well via a recent email to all their members and two promotional videos by their CEO Professor Matt Burke.
From our side, we are also promoting the tour and opening up discussion on both Bike Touring and also Bike Packing at our Social Night 4 days earlier on Tuesday 17th March at the Grange Library 6.30 pm for a 7 pm start. Within our club we have guys who have completed the Hunt 1000 km unsupported bike packing, traversing the high country from Canberra to Melbourne,…2 members in fact,..and we have many members who have regularly completed 20 day unsupported open country road bike tours,..so,..please consider.
If that's not enough, next up is Ian Chant’s Stanthorpe Loop rides for a Tin Town experience, hopefully its not too chilly,..so,..Thursday 26th and Friday 27th this month,..dinners noted on the calendar too,..Lets get right behind this 2 day event as every year its raved about because members have a fabulous experience.
These experiences also come from the connectivity of all those present, utilising the WhatsApp chat groups with shared pics, comments and ride info,..so please consider joining one or all of these multi day events above,..
The Regular rides are on the calendar to see. These cover Iain Moores Saturday Arvo rides leaving the Windsor train station every Saturday at 3pm,…John Steven’s 2 Points from Gumdale every Sunday morn leaving Eastside Shopping Village at 6.30 am,…Aileen Franklin’s Bayside Breeze on 2 Sunday morns 8th and 22nd leaving Thornside Railway station carpark at 7.40 am,…with Iain Moores Sunday Brunch this Sunday 1st leaving Kalinga Park at 7.30 am,…Tuesday’s Alt Oasis to Sandgate 6.30 am from the Nunday Crit track,..and Thursday;s Coffee as the Beach to Sandgate leaving the crib track at 7.30 am,….and the Redcliffe Run, leaving the Crit track at 6.30 am,..
Club Jerseys. We plan to do another order in the next few weeks, as 4 members have indicated they are in need of a Jersey. Now the minimum Scody order is 5.
If any member would like a jersey, now would be a great time to say so,..please reply here if you are interested.
I have requested prices for the jerseys and you will be emailed with that info and the phone App ordering process.
Mid June 15th to 19th we are traversing the whole length of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) and the Kingaroy to Killivan Rail Trail (KKRT) with an option to just do 3 days of the BVRT.
Both durations, that is, the 5 day and the 3 day option are fully supported,...so your luggage is carried each day to the next overnight stop,..how good is that,..
Now with the 5 day Gympie to Wulkuraka main event, you are transported by bus into Killivan,..but seats are limited to just 8,....however, you can ride this section along the Wide Bay Highway, but it is busy with narrow shoulders,..so,...only for experienced riders please,..and you need to leave a day earlier,..
Therefore, Ian Chant has proposed the option for getting to Yarraman with the Out there Cycling bus shuttle from Wulkurka and joining the tour when those coming from Gympie arrive at Yarraman. So,..there you have it,..Another top tour to consider for Mid June,..
Well that's it for now,…
Go Well,..Be Safe,...Have FUN
