Whats ON in October

Paul Glennon | Published on 10/1/2024

A quieter month for rides on the calendar, but still a number to consider.

Recent overnight rides have been hugely popular, such as the Scenic Rim tour and the Warwick loop rides.

You can read ride reports here:

- Scenic Rim in August https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=5&club_id=738657&item_id=105546&

- Warwick Loop Rides in September https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=5&club_id=738657&item_id=106121&

The Cobb and Co 7 day tour in the Darling Downs was a great bike event to coincide with an historic re enactment of a stage coach era. See the write up and pics here https://bbta.org/content.aspx?page_id=5&club_id=738657&item_id=105761&

John Stevens has his Public Holiday East Side Ride coming up this Monday 7th at 7 am from directly under the Gateway Bridge south side. The ride takes in Wellington Point and Wynnum. Please consider.

The regular rides are on the calendar. They cover the Tuesday Alt Oasis to Sandgate and the Thursday Redcliffe Run both now starting at the new time of 6.30 am from the Nundah Crit track. Likewise Daryl Beattie's Coffee at the Beach ride leaves the Crit track each Thursday at the usual time of 7.30 am. John Stevens Sunday mornng 2 Points from Gumdale ride departs from the Eastside Shopping Village at 6.30 am.

The upcoming Cambooya to Warwick Supported tour is on again next month on the 16th and 17th November. Registrations are open. Peter Brennan is asking everyone to register directly on the Club phone App. In this process you are asked to select your Speed Group to ride with. Also you can register for the dinner on the Friday 15th, before the event if you would like to be there. Always a top weekend away. Please Consider.

Steve Wilson, one of our club members from Toowoomba, informed me of the Downs Burnett Cycle trail supported weekend tour on 19th and 20th of October. Even though its a non bbta event, its a great opportunity to meet and ride with folk from further afield. The ride is from Kulpi to Bell, overnight in Bell and return to the cars at Kulpi on the Sunday. As the ride is supported there is a cost with all the details here:

If you are looking ahead on the Calendar you will have noticed the Club Christmas Party is down for Saturday evening the 14th December at a venue to die for,...the Maritime Museum right on the river. We have set numbers at 50 with 24 registered to date,...a date not to be missed.

The new Club jersey is being produced as we go to print,...70 members purchased jerseys, a fabulous result. (85 jerseys in all) Scody have indicated they are planning to complete the jerseys by 8th November.

I will inform you of Pick up locations and events where jerseys can be collected in the email at the end of October.

You will have noticed some changes to Registering for a Ride using the phone App. Club Express made a change whereby you now have to not only tick the small waiver box but also sign your name in a larger box. (see the images below) We are suggesting you put your initials there, then save it.

The nicely labelled “Registrants” button has been replaced with a little picture. It works just the same but is easy to miss what it means.
