Whats ON in June

Paul Glennon | Published on 6/3/2024

A warm welcome to the opening of the winter season with a balmy 22 as I pen this note to you.

Just a handful of special day rides with a smidge of variety, then a broad covering of regular rides to choose for this month.

So, Iain Moore has his ‘Brunch ride into Samford Valley’ on tomorrow 2nd June 7.30 am from the Ferny Grove train Station and later this month on Sunday 16th he has his ‘Tea and Scones on the Bridge’ (Gateway) ride leaving Kalinga Park at 7.30 am.

Both ride will be a chance to savour the day and enjoy the morning ride.

As I mentioned in my club email a week ago, several Brisbane Valley Rail Trail rides are on this coming week. Alex Geels has a great ride from Coominya to Esk and return taking in some very pretty scenery. Leaving the wee town of Coominya at 8.15 am this Tuesday 4th.

Then on Sunday 9th there are three concurrent rides leaving Lowood at 7 am for the 110 km ride up to Toogoolawah for the seasoned stronger riders in the group. Well worth the effort for such an adventurous ride.

Leaving an hour later, are the enjoyable 70 km and 35 km rides to Esk and Coominya respectively. I’ll be on one of those along with Brian Gerbert leading the other. We have 9 riders registered for the three rides atm.

The regular rides are up on the calendar. These include John Stevens Two Points from Gumdale each Sunday morn at 7 am leaving the Eastside Village Shopping Village in Cleveland Rd Gumdale. Also Iain Moore has his Saturday Arvo 3 pm rides on the calendar for the 1st today and next Saturday 8th . Keep your eye out for further rides later in the month.

The midweek rides of Alt. Oasis to Sandgate each Tuesday and the Redcliffe Run every Thursday (both leaving the Nundah Crit track at 7 am) along with Daryl Beatie’s Coffee at the Beach (Sandgate) leaving the Crit track at 7.30 am. See the calendar for all the details.

The New Club Jersey is progressing with the Sub Committee having met a local manufacturer last month.
We were suitably impressed and have decided to proceed with the local Aussie Manufacturer.
We are now in the design phase and will keep you posted in the coming month or two as to the progress.

Well thats about it for now,…

Go Well,..Be Safe,...Have FUN
